"Temari" - 8" x 10" - Limited Edition

I love working with patterns and the abundance of beautiful patterns in Japan amplified my obsession. Temari are handmade decorative balls sewn with thread to make intricate geometric designs. They were traditionally given to children on New Year’s Day.

This limited edition of 25 is an 8 color reduction linoleum block print.

A reduction print is a print with multiple layers of color carved from a single block. I used 4 linoleum blocks, repeating the process of carving and printing over and over with different colors. This print cannot be reproduced as the blocks are destroyed in the process.

Printed by hand on my 50+ year old Challenge Proof Press.
